I went to see
the Hunger Games when it came out over here in March not knowing too much about
it other than it was expected to be hugely popular and gross huge amounts (and
it did, I believe it hit $400 million today in the US). It was indeed a very good
film, which considering I don’t like films that much is a huge compliment!
However, all I
could think of afterwards is the fact that, as people usually claim, the book
version might be better. So before I jumped on the train the other day I
grabbed a copy for my Kindle. I think in our modern society it is easy to
forget that reading can actually be enjoyable, for me, doing a literature degree
reading is often the last thing I want to do in my free time. This book
reminded me why I like books in the first place; I absolutely could not put it
down which, considering I already knew almost everything that was to occur is
pretty special.
If you have seen
the film, I would suggest you give the book (and the sequels!) a try. But, if
you really don’t want to I would also strongly recommend the film. If you are already
a super-fan there is some cute MockingJay jewellery about. I particularly like
the pins, which actually feature in the story. If you’re in the US you should
be able to pick them up fairly easily (in Walmart I believe), for us Brits there is a seller on eBay selling the offical merch ones for £6.
I am still hoping to get a copy of the book to read it! Great blog found you through blog hop!
